I am rating them ultra low on support and features because they had no clue how to help me ensure that my CNAME alias mapping of www.mydomain.com to mydomain.startlogic.com would enable me to access my site via http://www.mydomain.com

Having worked for Startlogic back before they were "merged" with Endurance, we had a pretty good crew on technical support. Now...It's all been flushed in the toilet! I still have a VPS account along with several domain names and a ProLogic account; I don't plan to renew anything but my domain names and then I am transferring them to some one else or just transferring them if they don't need to be renewed within the next 90 days. I have wasted over 300 airtime minutes on my cell trying to get a live body in tech support and from what I have heard, they now have "front line" TEMPS with no training simply telling everyone that calls in with an issue that a ticket will be submitted. Let me tell you about those tickets! They are as useless as the people answering the phone (when you actually GET an answer!) My server has been crashing since early Jan 2008 (it has never done this before then!) and I spent about two hours compiling information from my logs, screen shots and anything else I could image tech support could use to help me with the memory allocation issue. This is the response I received tonight: "Thank you for getting back to us. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. In order to assist you further, please let us know what exactly you wish to do, so that we can assist you further with the required information. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us. We are available 24x7. Sincerely, Derik Benson Customer Support" Can you same LAME CANNED RESPONSE?? My account is up for renewal March 18th and if the issue isn't resolved then I will take my files and my business elsewhere. Endurance implemented a new system for billing as well as end users which quite frankly SUCKS. If you were ever on the "old system" you will have one hell of a time renewing your domains because they are still with Tucows and have not been loaded in to the "new system". Heck, the billing rep I spoke to basically told me I had no choice but to let my domain name expire and THEN try (hope and pray)to get it back after the redemption period. I had to get a billing lead on the phone just to get a simple domain name renewed. Startlogic has really gone down hill.....

I thought I am the one having problems with this Dodge web host. DON'T EVER TRUST the so call 30 days money back guarantee with them. This is trap!!!!! I signed up with this host in the early Feb, tried for 3 days and want to close the account. The following is what actually happens to my account, Try searching for ticket center to submit the request, 2 days, CAN?T FIND IT! Email to ( support@startlogic-inc.com ), 3 days, no reply! 1) Live Chat, 3 hours 05 mins, in queue, give up! 2) Live Chat, 2 hours 45 mins, in queue, give up! 3) Live Chat, 2 hours 15 mins, in queue, give up! 4) Live Chat, 2 hours 53 mins, scheduled to close account on following day, promise to refund as advertised. 7 days after the request, still no refund, 5) Live Chat, 1 hour 27 mins, closed account, refund inquiry; Dodge replies! Receive NO refund. (still under 30 days money back period) 1) ~ 5) are Live Chat attempts. Their Live Chat are LONG waiting time, meant, rude and impatient. Frankly, they don't even bother to process your requests. Just delay your requests by not to reply. According to Hosting Review, they scored up to 94%. ( NO.1 ); My existing web host ONLY scored 89%. (They are more willing to listen & help, fast response, 24/7 Live Chat waiting time is usually within 15 mins, ticket system replied within 12~24 hours) It seems they are ONLY capable of processing FAST (within few hours) when activate your account (register) & closing it. The rest of requests, you will have to wait ages. I use PayPal as paying method and this is the service and I received. If one uses Credit Card to pay for this, he/she will probably going to have MORE trouble in billing (randomly charged). I had search many sites and it seems there are bundles of people having the similar complains. (I am also one of them) Before signing up with this dodge host. Be sure to check their refund policy. You will noticed that, they don't tell you too much of it (while others specify clearly). I am quite convenience they are trying to hide all these info from subscribers. Be Extreme careful with this host, stay away if possible.

I have used Startlogic in the past and have had no problems with them until they recently moved to the vdeck 3.0 system. I started a second site using the new system and have spoken with support on a daily basis for the past two weeks. So far it has been one problem after the other. At the moment, I have a trouble ticket open and is going on 3 days with no replys after being told that my issue would be resolved in about an hour. Their new script installing service is a joke! Almost all webhosts offer php based scripts to run on their site through some sort of install service. Startlogic, a 12.95 fee per year to run open source scripts! They say it is to keep the software up to date and for the installation service. However I use Joomla for websites, and they are still using version 1.0.12. If you don't know, Joomla is now on version 1.5.1, so "up to date" is a load of crap!!!!! You can upload the software and install it on your own and it runs fine, if you can get support to activate scripting for you.

StartLogic offered me a great price and gave me a huge amount of space with more than adequate monthly transfer. However they have also given me a huge amount of grief: 1) No activation e-mail or phone call 2) After repeated attempts to contact them and receive activation information about my website I was only contacted by a CS agent after asking to cancel my account 3) Ticket response time is unacceptable when there is a problem 4) Service has degraded in the past 6 months 5) Site has slowed down considerably in the past several months 6) Downtime has increased extensively in the past month 7) When my site is up, much of the time the databases it relies on are inaccessible 8) CS tickets about the downtime issues have been replied to--with a form response asking if I wish to reset my password Despite the great prices, space, and bandwidth, I cannot recommend this service to anyone.

I've dealt with many web hosts in my years as a web designer. This one has to have one of the worst support departments I've come across in a long time. They close tickets without doing anything or replying, and don't seem to know how to do simple things like point additional domains (purchased through them) to an existing account. Id do it myself, but their control panel system doesn't work as our account is always stuck in "transition". Avoid this host if you ever think you may need support.

Well, I went with Start Logic because it was cheap and a lot of sites recommended it. Setting up my account was easy, but there were problems from the start. Each domain I added to my account generated internal server errors when serving PHP files. I had to contact tech support each time. My experience with their "Award winning 24/7 support" was 40 minutes waiting on the phone the first time, and more than an hour the next time. Four chat sessions, and each time I had to wait more than an hour to get with an agent. I tried email once, but I didn't get a response at all, and my claim was marked as closed. But, perhaps they knew I had discussed the issue on the previous chat. I litterally waited for more than 5 hours to get support for a stupid error that turned out to be a permission thing when their new control panel set up the sites on my account. Very frustrating. And, when I decided to go live with one site, I changed the name server at godaddy.com, it took nearly two days for their servers to resolve. I really don't know if that was a hosting issue, but it sure did fry me to have my site down for two days. I asked for my money back, but since it has been nearly two months, I'm not holding my breath.

These guys are terrible. You wait forever to get a response to an issue no matter if it's during the business day, afterhours or weekends. You wait for hours waiting for a chat session or any phone support. This is even more frustrating when you are tyring to get simple things like e-mail problems resolved. Go somewhere else, or you'll pay and pay and pay, and wait and wait and wait.

This company has a terrible control panel, u have contact support for basic things such as adding a new domain.. blocking open directories!!! and the worst thing about this company is the support service! It took me 2 weeks with them to sort severe problems with ftp.. They ignore your emails, don't respond within the promised time frame of 24-48!!!!! HOURS!!!! imagine being with a site down cause these fuckers are shooting heroin in the office disregarding whatever u do.. The live support is a joke, all they do is they file a ticket for you, you don't even have a login page to check the tickets in the whole website, so that means you're at their mercy for everything! i am now with a 24 downed website.. and there's no one to help! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! THEIR SERVICE IS AN INCH AWAY FROM BEING FRAUD!!!

I wouldn't go to a hosting company that has started using bots to troll forums to advertise their hosting company. But surprise, I found that a bot had visited my forum and attempted to spam my forum.

My page has 15k and it takes 5 seconds to load. Tested it on my other server and takes 1sec. To ftp is hell. And we're talking about a virtual private server. CPU - 99% all of the time. Never goes lower. My footer now says: " If you want your website to go this low chose Startlogic" - it will always have this line. Worst support ever. I work as a developer since '95. This is the worst support I've faced till now. They tell you that your problem will be seoved and you stay and wait, and wait, and wait. As we speak, my ticket has 1 month with the same status. I even asked my money back. No answer.

My nightmare begin with StartLogic. Their support is extremely poor. I opened a support ticket (Priority: Emergency) for 3 days and still no one attend to it. I spoke with Live Help twices and the person keep telling me "I have forwarded your issue and it will be resolved soon". It is my 4th day now...the problem of my domain inaccessible unsolved... :( ...I just wrote to them and demand a full refund. Stay away from StartLogic

I am very happy with startlogic. They are hardly ever down. Sometimes their email has problems but it could be that I'm doing something wrong. We've had a StartLogic account for almost a year now. Everything is good and I think they're a pretty decent host. There are a couple of technical hangups I've had with them though. Mostly they had to do with having multiple domains on one account. When I purchased the account I asked specifically if this was possible and how much it cost. When I went to add an extra domain everything went as told and worked like expected except that no images would show on my page for the extra domain unless I linked them through the main domain on the account. When I submitted a ticket for the problem I was told they didn't support multiple domains on the type of account I had. Eventually they did fix it however. I did later confirm that they didn't support multiple domains. Other than that as of today Techbarn.net is that extra domain on the account and I have to say that my wife likes Startlogic because their panel is a little easier for her to understand as opposed to something like cpanel which can sometimes be overcrowded and confusing to some if its not styled just perfect.
