I am giving PeoplePC 10 points for the price because of the fact that they offer a very cheap price, and a quality internet service. I don't know with other people, but with the three ISPs I have had, PPC is the best among them.
Their software, the PeoplePC Online blue smiley icon is actually great as it has tons of access numbers for you to connect to. And if one number is not working fine to the area where you are at, it would try to dial to a better number.
It is great as well that, with their software, after getting connected your Internet Explorer would come up right away with the homepage of peoplepc. From there, you can actually check on your emails right away.
I have never got a hard time navigating the web, and checking on my emails.
There was this one time when I received a bartshell module error, which would only mean, according to the Technical Support that I have talked with, that the software was not working properly anymore for reasons I have never understood. So, as the technician named Kumar walked me through. He had to leave me because I was on the same phone line--the same one I use to connect to the internet. So I have to call back, with a cellphone, and got Joey on the phone. Joey, whose English is totally better as compared to Kumar with a thick accent helped me and got my software reinstalled. From then on, I never had problems with peoplepc. The only comment I have for their Support is that when I called in, I got to talk to a person with a thick accent. Good thing that when I called back, it Joey already and that I was able to perfectly understand him. I hope they drop these people who can't communicate well with English speaking people. Another comment, a minor one, is the long wait time before you can actually talk to somebody. Although I understand that it is not only with the support of peoplepc that you have to wait for a long time.
In all, I am so satisfied with the service of PeoplePC--so far. I never had problems. I can email my children with peoplepc as it is very easy to navigate. |

PeoplePC is an unscrupulous company who has made unauthorized charges on my account by claiming I'm a customer of theirs. I've never been a customer of theirs and never will be. |

Never having used PeoplePC services before, but being attracted to their price, I signed up for the $55 package (approx $5.95 for the first 3 mos, then approx $10/mon thereafter), as I didn't want to have to deal with the hassle having to renew every month or so. In hindsight, I should have taken the 30 day free trial. So far, they've refunded me $13 of the $55 for a service I've only used once, but spent 2 hrs on the computer trying to get set up, then remove from my computer to get rid of errors that I started getting once I downloaded their product. I'm DONE!!! |

ive had peoplepc dialup for over a year. i tried their security plus and was constanly interupted by firewall alerts which i had no idea if i should allow or block, called peoplepc and after nearly an hour on the phone, i was told it was all fixed, only it wasnt. i had to have the security plus package removed so i could use the internet freely.
after cancelling the security package, i purchased Xoft for my anti spyware/adware. i was shocked and surprised to find out that peoplepc had infected my computer with 40 infections, among them, hitbox, dblclick, mediaplex. the adware is afixed to the various peoplepc owned toolbars, popup blocker and it goes on and on. for the heck of it, i removed the peoplepc infections from my computer, only to find out i couldnt access the internet. i had to uninstall and reinstall peoplepc's disk and start from the beginning to get back my internet service. currently all 40 of the peoplepc infections are in the ignore column of my antispyware, since i cant eliminate them without losing my internet service.
at the end of this week, i switch internet providers.
when i emailed peoplepc of my outrage that i should pay for a service that infects my computer, i was told i got the infections elsewhere and that its my responsibility to clean and care for my system. this was sent by an "Exec. Technical Relations Specialist" at the Peoplepc Headquarters. Even the techs further up do not know anything about the peoplepc product/service.
so if you want to pay for spyware/adware infections, lack of tech support/knowledge, a security pack that's inferior, and you do not care about how you are treated as a consumer/customer....get Peoplepc and enjoy the problems that never end. |

PeoplePC provides very cheap internet service and they have a ton of local access numbers. For internet service it's hard to beat the price but the sotware seems buggy and annoying. I had frozen and dropped connections often and it was rare that my modem would connect higher than 31kb. This could have been due to my location or my computer but that is my experience. Peoplepc is cheap but you may get what you pay for. |
