They have aweful Tech Support and customer service. All of their tech support is sub contracted to Inida which wouldn't be bad except that their PHONE connection to there is so bad that it constantly hangs up. Or have to deal with echoy sounds, white noise in the background..etc the whole time on call.
And becasue they are all sub-contracters, it's impossible to get them to help you on anything execept for 1 specific task they are trained to do. And Customer service is only open during business hours...so if you work during the day..forget ever talking to them.
I have to say I've never dealt with any company with worse cutomer serive and tech support as this company. and I am not being dramatic. |

I had a positive experience with Earthlink for 5 years and then last fall (just after their CEO died and someone else took over) they made a mistake and charged me over $800 a month instead of $21.95 for a website. Then they had the gall after admitting their mistake to issue me a credit notice but fail to credit my credit card while saying that they did.
Then they refused to take my phone calls, answer my emails or respond to my regular mails, and when I finally reached them three months later they said that their computer database couldn't process a refund. After many months and credit card finance charges, they finally said they could credit me in increments of $19.95 over a long period of time, but only on another credit card, and that they were not able to credit the original credit card.
I have spent over 40 hours dealing with this issue for over 6 months, and at this point have only had credited about 2/3 of the total amount, and none of the expenses or finance charges. Plus I've lost at least $2000 in work time and the cost of sending over 300 pages of certified and registered mail to Earthlink and my Bank of America credit card company which has been uncooperative in regard to handling the dispute which I filed six times.
Earthlink also started putting a charge for a Norton security suite on my credit card without my permission last fall, and since they will not answer their tech support line (they always have a message saying their line is busy, call back later) and since for many issues their web support says they can't deal online but only by telephone, they refuse to be available for support or "clean up" the problems that they create.
This is the most nefarious company I have ever dealt with. Their actions are criminal. |

I had Earthlink for two years and was very happy until I tried to cancel my service. I paid my bill through automatic debit. They tried to make me jump through hoops with the goal of keeping me as a customer. I finally had to have my bank refuse their charges before they honored my request. They did a great job, but I will never do business with them again. If they had just let me cancel at the time without all the hassle, I would gladly use them again. Sorry Earthlink, when someone makes it hard for me to stop doing business with them, they have lost me for life. |
